How To Get Involved With Her Majesty’s Celebrations This Bank Holiday Weekend
In 2022, Her Majesty The Queen will become the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee after 70 years of service.
Get involved in celebrating Her Majesty’s historic reign in the run-up to the Platinum Jubilee Central Weekend which takes place from 2nd to 5th June.
If you’d like to get involved here are some things you can do to get involved in Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022.
Street partiesÂ
The UK has a long history of organising street parties to celebrate national events. Why not organise one for your neighbours for the Platinum Jubilee. You can also welcome to host parties right across the bank holiday weekend, or as part of The Big Jubilee Lunch.
On a Quingo these street parties will become more assessable, you won’t need to worry about standing for hours or having to walk far. With Quingo’s kerb climbing ability you can easily get up and down the road to talk to all your neighbours and not feel left out during the jubilee celebrations.
The Big Jubilee Lunch
To coincide with the Platinum Jubilee, The Big Jubilee Lunch will be taking place on Sunday 5 June. Every year since the idea began in 2009, The Big Lunch has encouraged communities to celebrate their connections and get to know each other a little bit better. Following the success of the first Big Jubilee Lunch, to celebrate Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012, The Big Lunch will bring the Jubilee celebrations into the heart of every community again in 2022.
If you need to travel to your local jubilee lunch you can easily get there as our scooters have amazing battery lives from 18 miles to 55 miles dependent on the model you select.Â
Another great option if you are travelling to your destination by car is the Quingo Connect. It easily folds up in under 5 seconds to fit in your car, the powerchair is great for both indoor and outdoor use. Since it is a powerchair it is perfect for an event like the jubilee lunch as you won’t have to be getting up and down out of a chair, and you can still move around and mingle without putting any strain on your legs or back.
Beacon lighting
The UK has a long tradition of celebrating Platinum Jubilees, Weddings and Coronations through beacon lighting. You could light beacons or get involved in beacon lighting within your communities on the evening of 2 June.Â
Your local area may be holding a beacon lighting and firework night, which is easily assessable if you’re on a Quingo scooter to travel to any events taking place, even if they aren’t local enough to use your scooter to get to you could use a transportable scooter like the ultra or the flyte, simply load it into your car in under 60 seconds and you’ll be on your way to join in with the fun!
The Queen’s Green Canopy
You can plant trees from October 2021 (when the tree planting season begins) through to the end of the Jubilee year in 2022 as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy.Â
If you are a green thumb and like to get involved in some gardening this can be a great activity to get you outside in the fresh air independently or even with others working as a team.
If anything we spoke about today interests you in trying a quingo scooter for yourself you can click here to book a test drive for yourself, where one of our friendly mobility advisors will help you find your own freedom and independence again on your very own quingo scooter.
